The Earth Science Museum at Moscow State University
The Earth Science Museum is a division of Moscow State University. Founded in 1950 by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR during the construction of the Main Building of Moscow State University. The museum is located in the high-rise part of the building on the 24th - 31st floors. It unites the sciences of the planet Earth, is designed to provide students with knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the Earth sciences.
The exposition occupies 2,500 sq. meters. It introduces the entire complex of Earth sciences, consistently revealing topics from the history of the development of natural sciences at Moscow University to the general characteristics of large geographical areas.
The entire exposition is richly illustrated with works of art: sculptural portraits of prominent naturalists, paintings, bas-reliefs.
The museum's collections are constantly replenished, many natural exhibits were collected in expeditions by the museum staff.
